Ginger Carney

Ginger Carney (’76) is serving as the 2020-2021 president of the Tennessee Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, an affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The focus of Carney’s work is on the promotion and support of breastfeeding in pediatric clinical care and beyond.

Carney is one of the founders of the NLCA (National Lactation Consultant Alliance) and continues to serve on the board for the organization. She was also one of the original authors of the ‘Nutrition in Lactation’ chapter for the Pediatric Nutrition Care Manual. Carney is currently the Director of Clinical Nutrition & Lactation at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Laura Boyd smiles as she holds a signed letter from the Tennessee SenateLaura Boyd (’10) was recently recognized by the Tennessee Senate as Franklin Special School District’s Middle School Teacher of the Year. Boyd received her master’s in ESL/World Languages from the Department of Theory and Practice of Teacher Education and is now a Spanish teacher at Poplar Grove Middle School.

According to the Franklin Special School District, “[Boyd] believes that relationships are the foundation of all student success . . . Her class is engaging, interactive and data driven. Her expertise enables her students to use technology to build and showcase their knowledge.”
