Healthy Tips for the New Year

Setting New Year’s resolutions can be overwhelming. Lee Murphy, registered dietician from the Department of Nutrition, spoke with WBIR Channel 10 about how to set and achieve attainable goals and stay healthy in 2021.

First and foremost, your goals must be measurable. Setting vague goals can make the process of achieving them more daunting than inspiring, especially if your goals are centered around health and fitness. If you are looking to improve your overall nutrition this year, Murphy offered the following tips:Yeah

  • Eat at least 2 servings of fruits and 3 servings of vegetables every day. A good gauge of a serving size would be about the size of a baseball or a small fist.
  • Be sure that you’re staying hydrated by drinking water throughout the day.
