More than 100 people interested in and concerned about issues of equity, health, and social justice gathered for the first-ever Health Equity Summit in East Tennessee.
The summit was sponsored by the Department of Public Health and the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee, Plan East Tennessee, Together! Healthy Knox, and the Knox County Health Department.
Paul Erwin, professor and department head for the Department Public Health served as the summit moderator.
A health equity panel included Carole Myers from the College of Nursing and Department of Public Health. The sponsoring organizations for the Health Equity Summit are continuing to hold regular meetings and to discuss the information and suggestions that came out of the summit.
